im looking for a nice mountain bike for under 400 dollars what bike should i get?

What brand? What suspension? What gears? (i would like grip shift) may i mention i am not an extreme biker,i hate jumps,like riding through the woods, and i ride in rocky areas. i need either a 26 or 24 inch wheel and a 15 or 17 inch frame. Thanks for helping out.

    I would look for an entry level bicycle from a company like Specialized or Giant. They have many models suited for light trail riding.

    Here are some to check out:

    Specialized Hardrock

    Specialized Rockhopper

    Giant Rincon

    But the easiest way is to go to a local bike shop and try out the bikes they have in stock to see what feels right. There are many good brands out there and most bike shops will have a bike for you, whether it’s Giant, Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, Gary Fisher, Marin, Jamis, etc.

    Well, What seems perfect for you is a Diamond back recoil. since you rise in a rocky area you will probably want full suspension. This bike doesn’t have grip shifter, however i think you will like them better. You can buy these at dicks sporting goods for $450… or sport chalet..don’t go to a bike store…they charge allot extra.
