bmx or mountain bike?
rockman asked:
I’m an adult male but i don’t like gears on the mountain bike and i was told that bmx bikes are for kids. I used to have a mountain bike and the chain kept popping off due to my inexperience with gears and i figured the bike was a waste of time.
I’m only using the bike to get groceries etc.

Check out this little puppy…
If you want a mountain bike with out gears just get a single speed, all the major bike manufactures have one. While BMX bikes are normally single speed they tend to be uncomfortable for riding any distance.
You have every right to ride whatever you like, but I’ll give you a couple of things to think about:
1. My MTB chain almost never pops off. Your shifters and derailleurs must be adjusted improperly.
2. BMX bikes generally are too small for adults to ride efficiently. You would have to have an impossibly long seatpost to pedal efficiently. They’re fun when used for their intended purpose, but transportation isn’t “it”.
3. The purpose of gears is to make efficient use of your limited horsepower. Not liking/using them just makes the job of getting from point A to point B a lot harder than it needs to be.
