I can’t say sure sure as I haven’t a clue as to what you have. I use a 28 on my bike. Some derailleurs will not handle larger cogs and some will. You can always get a 28 it will work on all MTBs.

Depends on your derailleur and how the derailleur hanger is positioned on your bike. First, look up the derailleur on the web and see if you can a tech spec for it. Shimano is usually pretty good about that sort of thing. Also, online stores that sell the derailleur will usually list the maximum size allowed. Second, be careful of how the hanger is positioned. Your derailleur may accomodate 32t but if it sits up too high then you may be able to get away with 30t. You’ll find a screw just behind the derailleur cable entrance. It can adjust the distance between the upper bogey wheel and the large cog - up to a point.

The worst that happens is that the bogey wheel will clash into the largest cog and you will hear a “tgh-tgh-tgh…” sound with every clash. It will wear the teeth out over time.

I’m assuming that you don’t have a cassette currently so you can’t count how teeth the biggest cog has to match it.
